Anthuriums of all other sections are rolled in a simple spiral, resembling a conch shell; those of Pachyneurium are rolled in two opposite spirals towards the central rib of the leaf. The birds nest form of these Anthuriums means that they trap debris and water quite efficiently in the plant base; this adaptation is a response to living in very arid climates. As such, they rarely appear in wet forest environments, where other Anthuriums sections are frequent inhabitants. Typical plants of the section include Anthuriums affine, A. cubense and A. schlechtendalii.

Gardenia plants are prized for the strong sweet scent of their flowers, which can be very large in some species. Gardenia jasminoides (syn. G. Grandiflora, G. Florida) is cultivated as a house plant. This species can be difficult to grow because it originated in warm humid tropical areas. It demands high humidity to thrive and bright (not direct) light. It flourishes in acidic soils with good drainage and thrives on [68-74 F temperatures (20-23 C)] during the day and 60 F (15-16 C) in the evening. Potting soils developed especially for gardenias are available. G. jasminoides grows no larger than 18 inches in height and width when grown indoors. In climates where it can be grown outdoors, it can attain a height of 6 feet. If water touches the flowers, they will turn brown. In China and Japan, Gardenia jasminoides is called Zhi zi (Chinese) and Kuchinashi (Japanese); the bloom is used as a yellow dye, which is used for clothes and food (including the Korean mung bean jelly called hwangpomuk). Its fruits are also used in traditional Chinese medicine for their clearing, calming, and cooling properties. In France, decades ago, Gardenia was the traditional flower which men wore sometimes as boutonnières on special occasions. It is the national flower of Pakistan. Jazz singer Billie Holiday was known to wear gardenias in her hair, one of her most noticeable features. She called them her trademark. Crocetin is a chemical compound found in gardenia fruit (Gardenia jasminoides Ellis). In high concentrations, it has protective effects against retinal damage in vitro and in vivo.

· Creeping Bent grass - Agrostis palustris
Bent grass is a fine-textured, cool-season species that spreads by stolons and is able to tolerate very close mowing heights of 1/4 to 3/4 inch (.63 to 2 cm). Bent grass is the finest-bladed, lowest-growing, and highest maintenance species of all the cool-season turf grass. It makes a nice looking lawn, but requires a great deal of care with frequent Mowing, watering, dethatching, and fertilizing. This is the grass that is used on many putting and bowling greens. It forms a soft, dense, carpet like lawn that must have good drainage and frequent watering. It also needs good air circulation over the surface of the grass to prevent disease, of which it is susceptible to many. It likes full sun, but will tolerate some shade. It is best adapted for use on putting greens, or where professional care is at hand, since it is not a lawn that is as well-suited for home lawns as other grasses.
